Our Radiation Therapy Treatments
At Radiation Therapy Clinic in Guadalajara – Clínica de Radioterapia de Guadalajara – , we use state-of-the-art techniques to treat cancer with exceptional precision and safety. Each treatment is carefully tailored to the patient’s diagnosis, with the goal of controlling the tumor while protecting healthy tissue as much as possible.
VMAT Radiation Therapy (Volumetric Modulated Arc Thera
VMAT is an advanced technique in which the linear accelerator rotates around the patient, delivering radiation from multiple angles.
This allows the dose to be precisely concentrated on the tumor while providing better protection to nearby healthy organs.
An additional advantage of VMAT is that treatment sessions are typically shorter than with other techniques — without compromising safety or effectiveness.
It is commonly used to treat breast, prostate, brain, and lung tumors, offering more precise, comfortable, and effective treatments.
IMRT Radiation Therapy (Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy)
IMRT is an advanced form of 3D radiation therapy that uses beams whose intensity can be adjusted as they are directed toward the tumor.
This allows the treatment to precisely conform to the shape and size of the cancer, achieving an even dose distribution while minimizing exposure to healthy tissue.
IMRT is especially useful for complex tumors or those located near sensitive organs, such as head and neck, prostate, or pelvic cancers, where a high level of precision is required.Es especialmente útil en tumores complejos o cercanos a órganos sensibles, como los de cabeza y cuello, próstata o pelvis, donde se requiere un alto nivel de conformación.
3D Conformal Radiation Therapy
3D conformal radiation therapy uses medical imaging (primarily CT scans) to create a three-dimensional model of the tumor and shape the radiation beams to match its exact contour.
This makes the treatment safer and more precise than conventional radiation therapy by concentrating the dose only on the targeted area.
Currently, it is most often used for less complex tumors or cases that do not require highly modulated techniques — such as certain breast, prostate, or peripheral lung cancers.Hoy en día se utiliza sobre todo en tumores donde la complejidad es menor o cuando no se requiere una modulación tan avanzada, como en ciertos casos de cáncer de mama, próstata o pulmón periférico.
Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SRS / SBRT)
Stereotactic Radiation Therapy is an advanced technique that delivers high doses of radiation with exceptional precision in very few sessions.
Using state-of-the-art imaging and immobilization systems, it targets the tumor with millimeter accuracy while protecting surrounding healthy tissue.
- SRS (Stereotactic Radiosurgery):
Performed in a single session or a few fractions, SRS is used to treat intracranial lesions such as brain metastases, meningiomas, vestibular schwannomas (acoustic neuromas), and arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).
Its high precision allows for the control of very small lesions without the need for surgery.
• SBRT (Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy):
Used for tumors outside the skull, typically in the lung, liver, prostate, spine, or adrenal glands.
SBRT delivers very high doses of radiation in just a few sessions (usually 3–5), offering an effective, faster, and more comfortable treatment experience for patients.
Thanks to their precision and reduced number of sessions, both SRS and SBRT have become safe and effective therapeutic alternatives, providing high local control rates with minimal toxicity.
All radiation therapy techniques — VMAT, IMRT, 3D, and SRS/SBRT — are safe and effective. The choice of technology depends on the type and location of the tumor, as well as each patient’s individual medical evaluation. Our team carefully selects the most appropriate technique for every patient, always ensuring the best balance between precision and well-being.
